9:15 | Providing a Platform for Future Wireless Technology Development Mr. Graham Reith, CES Industry Marketing Manager, MathWorks Creating innovative designs and taking them to market quickly is the key to success in a competitive industry. For future wireless communications, new enabling technologies (e.g. Massive MIMO, mmWave) and new use-cases (e.g. IoT, V2V/V2X) are driving innovation in this sector and are key considerations of the future 5G. To enable companies to be successful, MathWorks has invested in developing a platform that supports the diverse range of technologies now needed to be considered in wireless development, and integrated them into a flow that enables algorithm development and system simulation of future concepts; the creation of real-time prototypes and testbeds; and the generation and verification of production-quality code. This session gives an overview of the technologies that make up the platform on which to build future wireless systems. |
10:00 | יכולות חדשות ב-MATLAB לפיתוח מערכות תקשורת אלחוטית רונן כהן, מהנדס יישומים, סיסטמטיקס We will discuss what are the latest features and technologies in DSP and Communications System Toolboxes. Also how best to use these capabilities for efficient simulation of wireless systems. Lastly, we will show relevant capabilities introduced in latest MATLAB releases. |

11:00 | LTE and WLAN Reference Libraries in MATLAB Iain Stirling, Software Engineer, MathWorks LTE System Toolbox and WLAN System Toolbox provide standard-compliant functions for the design, simulation, analysis, and testing of LTE and Wireless LAN communications systems. This session gives an introduction to LTE System Toolbox and WLAN System Toolbox, showing how they address key application areas: design verification, end-to-end simulation, signal generation and analysis, signal information recovery. This session will detail the 3GPP and IEEE 802.11 standards supported, show how to measure metrics like EVM, BER and ACLR, and illustrate how to connect to test and measurement equipment and software-defined radio (SDR) devices, allowing real waveforms to be analyzed and decoded in MATLAB. |
12:30 | מידול RF באמצעות Simulink רונן כהן, מהנדס יישומים, סיסטמטיקס RF blockset and RF toolbox are the 'Swiss-knife' for RF computation and simulations in MATLAB. This session will show how to do system models to include RF impairments, with an example on developing DPD algorithms together with PA models and testing with realistic stimulus. |
13:15 | ארוחת צהריים |
14:15 | Building 5G systems with MATLAB Iain Stirling, Software Engineer, MathWorks Research and development of 5G technology is well under way. New modulation schemes, MIMO configurations and frequency bands are all candidates to form part of the new generation of mobile communication systems. Flexible and capable simulation platforms are needed to model, assess and develop these candidate technologies. MATLAB provides a solution for research and development of advanced wireless communication systems. MathWorks engineers will demonstrate how MATLAB can help you model existing 4G systems and investigate their evolution to 5G. You will learn how MATLAB capabilities can be used to investigate the key evolving technologies that will form the core of 5G systems. |
15:15 | מידול מערכי אנטנות ב-MATLAB ו-Simulink רונן כהן, מהנדס יישומים, סיסטמטיקס With the approach of 5G and massive antenna arrays, one of the most challenging problems for MIMO and phased array design is modelling the antennas. During this session we will be modelling antenna elements and analysing antenna array patterns, array steering and beamforming. Later, we will show how to integrate the array into a system by modelling hybrid beamforming architectures for communications systems. |

Mr. Graham Reith
Mr. Graham Reith joined MathWorks in 2002, and currently manages the Communications, Electronics and Semiconductors (CES) business in EMEA and China.
Working with both engineers and senior managers in CES organisations, he focusses on identifying how existing design flows can be improved and the steps that can be taken to reduce development times, encourage innovation, and increase agility. His technical background includes both hardware and software development workflows, and he has worked with customers worldwide on wireless communications, mixed-signal design, audio, image processing and computer vision applications.
In addition to representing the state-of-the-art of how MathWorks tools can be applied in CES workflows today, Graham also seeks to identify areas where MathWorks should invest further to improve the tools for the future, working with the product development teams to define requirements for future releases.
Graham is based in Cambridge, UK. Prior to his current role, he worked as a senior team leader in the UK Application Engineering team, with a technical specialism in signal processing and communications. Before joining MathWorks in 2002, Graham worked in applied research for the UK government, developing high-performance signal processing applications on DSPs and FPGAs. Graham has a Master’s degree in Electronic Engineering from the University of York, UK.
Iain Stirling, Software Engineer, MathWorks
Iain Stirling – Bio
Iain is a Software Engineer at MathWorks and is one of the developers of the LTE System Toolbox. Prior to joining MathWorks, Iain was Principal Communications Engineer at Steepest Ascent, where he worked on simulation software for LTE, 3GPP WCDMA, cdma2000 1xRTT/EV-DV/EV-DO, ISDB and DVB. He was also involved in presenting training courses, particularly those concerned with OFDM communications and the 3GPP WCDMA and 3GPP LTE standards. He has presented LTE and digital communications theory on-site at many tier 1 companies around the world.
Iain graduated from the University of Strathclyde in 2000 with a 1st Class Honours degree in Computer and Electronic Systems. He also holds a PhD from the University of Strathclyde, obtained in 2005 for research on rake receiver architectures for 3GPP FDD base-stations.
