5G Supporting Standards: LTE and WLAN
Dr. Iain Stirling& Dr. Daniel Aronsson
LTE will be an important part of 5G systems for the near future, initially providing the control plane, but also for applications such as Internet of Things and vehicle to vehicle communications. In this section, you will learn about NB-IoT and LTE-M systems with the aid of MATLAB simulations. We will also discuss modelling and simulation of the Side-link and C-V2X features in the LTE standard which are important in the area of automated driving.
WLAN is evolving to provide complementary services to 5G cellular deployments. 802.11ax aims to increase spectral efficiency compared to existing WiFi standards, while 802.11ad and 802.11ay provide WiFi services using mmWave bands. In this section, we will discuss these enhancements and show the latest modelling capabilities in MATLAB to support these new WLAN standards.
